Wien (ots Ad hoc-Service) - As RHI announced today, the 2000 business year was dominated by the integration of Harbison-Walker/GIT, acquired at the end of 1999. Refractories sales rose to a total of EUR1.675 million from EUR 1.104 million in 1999, as basic conditions improved over 1999. In 2000, the Refractories Division achieved an EBITDA of EUR 182.4 million, more than double the figure for 1999 (EUR 84.8 million), and an EBIT(4) of EUR95.7 million, compared with EUR 39.4 million in 1999. These are the best refractories results in the companys history. In 2000 the Engineering Division continued its restructuring activities. Sales boosted by 15% to EUR 168 million from EUR 146 million in 1999. EBIT for 2000 amounted to EUR 7.6 million, up from EUR 7.4 million in 1999. The Insulating Division continued its efforts, begun in 1999, to reposition itself to focus on particularly attractive insulating materials segments in its key target regions, Western and Eastern Europe. Sales increased by 5% to EUR 194 million from EUR 185 million in 1999. EBIT for 2000 was EUR 11.3 million, compared with EUR 9.7 million in 1999. The Waterproofing Division was also affected by the situation in the construction industry. In 2000, sales increased by 8% to EUR 171 million from EUR 158 million in 1999. EBIT for 2000 was EUR 3.8 million, compared with EUR 4.0 million in 1999.
RHI group sales rose 39% to EUR 2.194 million in 2000, from EUR 1.574 million in 1999. EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) amounted to EUR 241.0 million, compared to EUR 118.8 million in 1999. EBIT increased to EUR 131 million in 2000 from EUR 52.4 million in 1999. The financial result for 2000 was EUR -61 million, in particular due to acquisition-related interest expenditures. Revenues from ordinary activities in 2000 amounted to EUR 70 million (1999: EUR 40 million).
