Vodafone D2 and VIAG Interkom rely on solutions from Dortmund
Materna Information & Communications will show, for the first time worldwide at the CeBIT trade fair 2002, multimedia value-added services via two public mobile networks. At the stands of Vodafone D2 and VIAG Interkom, the fair visitors could experience all features offered by the new MMS Mobile News of the software company with headquarters in Dortmund, Germany.
MATERNA offers two strategic models for its MMS Mobile News: on the one hand, the company's own editorial team, which received several awards, compiles the news of different agencies. In addition, MATERNA also offers the Premium Content of well-known brands.
Vodafone D2 exhibits, among others services like "Breaking News" and "Sport News". The German Television Station ZDF, Vodafone D2 and MATERNA will demonstrate the advanced possibilities, which the Multimedia Messaging Service offers for television brands like the successful German format "WISO". The companies demonstrate how attractive contents and brands are transferred into the mobile world. The content is prepared by a subsidiary of the ZDF Television Station, ZDF.newmedia which designs and license multimedia contents and applications and links them with over 30 years of experience in entertainment and information competence of the ZDF.
Vodafone D2 will also use the MMS Composer of MATERNA, which is a Web-based tool for the creation and delivery of multimedia messages. Users can combine pictures, sounds and text from Web archives, which offer a choice of rich contents. Or they can use self created content, which can be uploaded within the Web environment.
At the stand of VIAG Interkom, new MMS value-added services supplied by MATERNA will be presented too. A whole range of product services will be provided: weather, news, sports, pop news and cinema will make you enjoy the new opportunities offered by Multimedia Messaging.
To transfer MMS messages, VIAG Interkom uses the MATERNA Multimedia Messaging Service Center (MMSC), which is made available on a trial basis. The MMSC is operated at the MATERNA data processing center in Dortmund which is connected to the VIAG Interkom GPRS network.
Thus, the visitors at the VIAG stand will be able to test live the so-called person-to-person messaging. VIAG customers can create a Multimedia Message with a picture and send it via the MATERNA MMSC to another MMS-compatible mobile phone or an email address. Among other MMS capable devices, the O2 xda Smartphone, equipped with an MATERNA MMS Client will be used. Visitors will also see how Messaging to legacy SMS-capable mobile phones works.
The range of products presented by MATERNA in Hanover will also include the MMS Picture Postcard. The fair visitors could select, for instance, the motives from a preset collection and send them to an email address or another mobile phone number. The Picture Postcard will be shown by MATERNA at its own stand in hall 12, stand A15.
