United Labels AG takes over Jocky Team S.A., Barcelona, a company with a successful track record over many years in the market for comicware under licence. The acquisition gives a major boost to United Labels' position as the European licensed products specialist in the comicware sector. As of 01.10.2000, revenue from Jocky Team S.A. flows into the consolidated group of United Labels AG. The high- yielding company produced pre-tax results (EBIT) of DM 2.3m. on revenue of DM 15.2m. in 1999.
The Jocky range forms a valuable complement to the United Labels portfolio of licences and products, such as Disney, Snoopy, Pokemon, Looney Tunes and the Simpsons. The takeover strengthens United Labels distribution structure in Spain and Portugal by more than 1,200 retail partners, including the important retail groups El Corte Ingles, Toys R Us and Continente. This ensures immediate availability of the complete United Labels product range, comprising all the most popular comic characters in the world, from coast to coast on the Iberian Peninsula.
Following the acquisitions of Colombine bvba, Brügge and Jocky Team S.A., Barcelona, accomplished in the second half of 2000, the company now benefits from one of the highest density distribution network for comic products in Europe.
Based on United Labels AG's strong expansion since flotation in May 2000, projections are under revision and new figures will be released shortly.
