Munich, 21 April 2022 - LEONINE Studios has acquired international distribution rights to the exciting 8-part one-hour crime drama series TROPPO from AGC Television. TROPPO is based on the highly successful Crimson Lake novel series written by New York Times best-selling author Candice Fox. The series has just premiered on Australia’s ABC and will debut in the US on IMDb TV (soon to be Amazon Freevee), Amazon’s premium free streaming service.

TROPPO was created and written by the award-winning filmmaker Yolanda Ramke (“The Haunting Of Bly Manor”, “Cargo”). She co-directed the series with acclaimed directors Jocelyn Moorhouse (“Wakefield”, The Dressmaker”), Catherine Millar (“Twisted”), Ben Howling (“Cargo”) and Grant Brown (“Rush”).

Thomas Jane (“1922”, “Hung”, “The Punisher”, “Boogie Nights”) plays down-and-out ex-cop Ted Conkaffey, who is recruited by Amanda Pharell, an eccentric small town private investigator played by Nicole Chamoun (“On the Ropes”, “Safe Harbour”) to investigate the murder of a brilliant tech pioneer. They are joined by multi award-winning actress Radha Mitchell (“Olympus Has Fallen”, “London Has Fallen”, “The Shack”) and David Lyons (“Eat Pray Love”, “Safe Haven”, Truth Be Told”, “Revolution”).

Yolanda Ramke is the creator of the series. She executive produces along with Stuart Ford and Lourdes Diaz, Matt Bankston (AGC Studios), Greg Quail, Lisa Duff, Simonne Overend (EQ Media Group), Mikael Broglund, David Ogilvy (Beyond Entertainment), Sally Riley and Andrew Gregory (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) as well as Thomas Jane and Courtney Lauren Penn (Renegade Entertainment). Producer of the series is Karl Zwicky.

TROPPO is an EQ Media Group and Beyond Entertainment production in association with Renegade Entertainment, with major production financing from the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, AGC Studios in association with Aperture Media Partners, and Screen Australia in association with Screen Queensland and with support from the City of Gold Coast.

Set against the crocodile-infested landscape and idiosyncratic locals of tropical Far North Queensland, Australia, TROPPO is the story of down-and-out ex-cop Ted Conkaffey (Thomas Jane) who is begrudgingly recruited by Amanda Pharrell (Nicole Chamoun) - an eccentric small town private investigator with a disturbing criminal past - to investigate the murder of a brilliant tech pioneer. As they both look for their second chances in life, they must battle to uncover the truth amid the tightly held secrets of Crimson Lake, even as their own checkered pasts are dragged into the present.
