Following the successful asset deal in Scandinavia in February this year, the Beate Uhse Group has further consolidated its leading position in the international wholesale trade by taking a stake in two Benelux-based companies. The move is part of the Group's strategy of securing international market share.
Beate Uhse AG's Netherlands subsidiary Beate Uhse BV Holland has purchased 50% of wholesaler Fun Video Belgium BVBA for NLG 850,000 (Dutch Guilders) or around DM 754,400. For seven years, Fun Video Belgium BVBA has been in the business of marketing films, magazines and DVDs in the Benelux countries. In 2001, the company expects sales of approx. DM 3.0 million and net income of DM 250,000.
Beate Uhse BV Holland has also taken a 50% stake (retroactive to 1 January 2001) in Dutch wholesaler Video Distributie Nederland BV for a sum of NLG 2.5 million (DM 2.22 million), plus a 66% share of the profits until 2004. Video Distributie Nederland BV sells erotic videos and DVDs throughout Europe and holds video rights to approx. 3,300 films. In addition, the company has built a new warehouse, strategically located approx. 100 km from Germany's Ruhr region. In 2001, the company expects sales of approx DM 8.0 million and net income of DM 1.0 million.
