WEB.DE AG, Karlsruhe, operator of the Internet portal WEB.DE and provider of e-mail and communication services has acquired a minority shareholding in Vivity Multimedia Services AG, Düsseldorf, as part of the investment strategy announced upon going public. As part of a financing action, WEB.DE AG purchased a 5.8 % holding in the company.
Vivity is an innovative supplier of a large range of interactive and print media in the leisure sector. This enables Vivity to offer on CD-ROM, in book form or as telephone information service, high-quality leisure information generated through its own cooperation network (www.vivity.de). In view of the known high-value of leisure time in Germany and the simultaneously very large fragmentation of information sources in this respect, the provision of top quality data and ideas are an interesting business sector with a high level of customer benefit.
As a result of this investment, WEB.DE will receive access to the high-quality contents of Vivity and in this way considerably increase the range of its Internet portal in the leisure and regional information sectors.
