Image of the Month: Mama was in the spotlight with a song from the Spice Girls. Or, if the picture above is more to your liking, the song was a big bouquet of flowers for mothers everywhere. The song is about the change in perspective that almost all of us go through over time: Mama, who annoyed us during our teenage years, is actually our closest friend. “Mama, I love you, Mama, I care, Mama, I love you, Mama, my friend.”
And it’s not just these five British pop singers who are mama’s biggest fans: In many countries Mother’s Day falls in May. In the USA, Italy and German-speaking countries, like Germany, Switzerland and Austria it falls on May 8, in Spain on May 1st and in France on May 29. And what would be a lovely alternative to cards, confectionary and breakfast in bed on this day? Firstly: singing (see above). Secondly, in the case of the most precious of mothers: Many happy hours. Mom’s been through a lot with us. And this year a handmade wristwatch that lasts forever will thank her for all that she does. Mechanical watches, like the Tangente neomatik champagne above, are made at NOMOS, in the famous German watchmaking town of Glashütte, keeping with 175 years of tradition. Nothing here is outsourced at low cost; there’s nothing in the watch that has been done in a hurry. The watch is simply handmade with a lot of skill, patience and love, making it quite comparable with all that mom has done for us over the years.
