Summer watches with color—a compilation
White dials always look beautiful on classic watches. That’s not going to change. But an injection of color has its own advantages—such as individuality, joy, or capturing the zeitgeist. Here's a small exploration of color by NOMOS Glashütte.
GLASHÜTTE, SUMMER 2021. Gray, orange, olive green, purple or yellow: There’s never just one color that’s current, there are always several at once. Films, the works of budding artists, fashion trends as well as political and social developments influence our appreciation of which color is current. Conversely, trends such as “Color of the Year” can serve as inspiration, and go on to influence the development of products—seen in the latest sofas, chairs, clothing, cars, and kitchen appliances.
Or in the dials of watches. That said, classically mechanical timepieces from NOMOS Glashütte are white and produced in the 175-year-old tradition of Glashütte, the world-famous home of German watchmaking. But for a long time, different models continually appear in the collection that are capable of something else—precisely because of their colorfulness. After all, color embodies joy and happiness, even on the wrist. Colorful watches can complement outfits, accentuate the individuality of the wearer, be a welcome change—or simply spark joy as a favorite color, hour by hour, minute by minute.
Our final thought: White dials on mechanical watches are beautiful and will remain so. But there are plenty of good reasons for color too!
NOMOS Glashütte has compiled a shortlist of colorful watches for you—please help yourself. And feel free to get in touch should you have any requests, we are always happy to help.
