OMV: Strategic investment in MOL
OMV today announced that it has acquired shares of MOL and surpassed the 5% threshold. MOL was informed accordingly that at the moment OMV has secured less than a 10% stake in the company.
As of now, OMV has no intention of increasing its shareholding in MOL above 10%. OMV sees MOL shares as undervalued and is fully supportive of the management of MOL in resolving its open issues, notably the gas question.
OMV shares the view of the management of MOL regarding the consolidation of the oil industry in Central Europe and will support MOL in the further continuation of that policy. The acquisition of MOL shares by OMV should be seen in this context and should facilitate in achieving benefits for the two companies.
