- 1st quarter of 2000 shows clear three-digit growth in sales and earnings - Majority stake in Köln Comedy Festival GmbH - 4 for 1 share split planned
BRAINPOOL TV AG increased its turnover in the first quarter of 2000 by 172 percent to 22.9 million DM, compared to 8.4 million DM in 1999. The increase in earnings rose even more dramatically. Operating profits (EBIT) were up from minus 0.7 million DM to plus 3.6 million DM, taking the EBIT margin to over 15 percent. After adjustment as per DVFA, earnings per share in the first three months reached 0.71 DM. During the first quarter of 1999 the figure was minus 0.15 DM. CEO Jörg Grabosch stated at today's financial press conference that in the first quarter of 2000 BRAINPOOL TV had already achieved the same earnings as for the whole of 1999. At the annual general meeting which takes place on 4th July BRAINPOOL TV AG will be proposing a 4 for 1 share split. At the same time BRAINPOOL TV today announced that it will be taking a 51 percent stake in the Köln Comedy Festival GmbH. The option on a majority interest in the organiser of Germany's best known - and one of Europe's largest - comedy festivals was on the point of being signed. Excerpts from this ten-day live event are broadcast each year by RTL Television in two special gala programmes. Köln Comedy also produces a prime-time show for RTL Television covering the annual German Comedy Award.
