Koehler Paper, a Koehler Group company and a leading producer of thermal paper, has taken the next step towards future-proof point-of-sale (POS) printing solutions together with SEWOO, a well-established provider of POS and label printers. As of this writing, both conventional KT 48 PF white thermal paper and environmentally friendly Blue4est® N Lite have been certified for SEWOO’s SLK T12/T20/T21/T32 printer models and the bestselling SLK TS400 series.

Testing stage successfully completed

Before this official approval, the two paper products, KT 48 PF and Blue4est® N Lite, were extensively tested for several months. The focus throughout this testing stage? Printing quality, barcode legibility, images and logos, and durability under a variety of conditions. The results show that both products are 100% compatible with SEWOO printers and deliver dependable performance for daily use at the POS. At the same time, SEWOO’s advanced print head control unit reduces wear while maximizing ease of maintenance. This ensures absolutely solid and reliable results even when working with high printing volumes. “With this SEWOO certification, we now have one more invaluable partner and are taking another important step towards sustainable POS systems with Blue4est®. This is further proof of our commitment to offering solutions that not only ensure maximum printing quality and versatility, but are also ready for use right away,” says Sebastian Früh, the Director of the Thermal Paper Division at Koehler Paper.

Straightforward integration without the need for additional steps

The printer models in the SLK series are directly compatible with and will detect sustainable, blue Blue4est® thermal paper right away without the need for any additional configuration or customization settings. This ensures that companies worldwide will be able to seamlessly switch over to environmentally friendly solutions. Moreover, SEWOO has an extensive global sales and support network that guarantees smooth integration and provides a solid basis for the use of both types of paper. “We attach enormous importance to providing our customers with technologies that are not just reliable, but also future-proof. This certification represents an important milestone and delivers a solution that can be easily implemented and is simultaneously paving the way for more sustainable POS systems,” points out SEWOO representative Seomun Dong-Gun with visible excitement.

From an old-school solution to a more sustainable alternative – thermal paper options for all needs

With its KT 48 PF and Blue4est® products, Koehler Paper offers a broad portfolio that covers an extremely wide variety of printing applications – from traditional solutions to sustainable alternatives. Things start with conventional KT 48 PF thermal paper, which makes a compelling case with its first-rate printing quality, high reliability, and tried-and-true performance. And then comes Blue4est®, which complements the old-school option by being a more sustainable alternative: It uses zero chemical color developers, is recyclable, and can be disposed of as wastepaper. In addition, it is approved for direct contact with food and guarantees that prints will last for over 35 years. Altogether, this makes it the perfect solution for use in retail, logistics, and the hospitality industry. Moreover, its characteristic blue color makes it easy for consumers to recognize it as an environmentally friendly solution. The key can be found in its purely physical mechanism, in which heat from thermal print heads causes tiny bubbles in the functional layer to collapse so that the black layer underneath becomes visible.
