The Oberkirch-Schauenburg Lions Club took advantage of the opportunity to tour the Koehler Group’s upgraded cogeneration plant in July. Instead of fossil fuels, the plant at the Oberkirch site now uses climate-friendly biomass. The visitors got to take a look at the environmentally friendly technology and had a chat about the family business’ sustainable direction.

Lions Club learns more about sustainable energy solutions

Over 30 interested members of the Oberkirch-Schauenburg Lions Club got a guided in-depth tour of the converted biomass combined heat and power plant at Koehler’s headquarters in Oberkirch with Mill Director Hartmut Felsch and Power Plant Manager Theo Maier. During the visit, our experts went over the most important changes at the power plant with the guests. As mentioned already, the plant has been burning environmentally friendly biomass instead of black coal since its conversion was completed, with this representing an important contribution to a sustainable energy transition in the region. “Seeing how innovative technologies and sustainable resources are used to produce environmentally friendly energy is very impressive,” one of the visitors said. Among other things, the tour underscored the Lions Club’s commitment to environmental and sustainability issues.

With this large-scale project, the Koehler Group has launched a crucial symbol of environmentally conscious energy generation and delivery and shown how regional companies can be proactive in helping in the fight against climate change.
