  • Wind-power-focused joint venture between Koehler Renewable Energy (80%) and CMB Energy (20%)
  • Wind power capacity of 1 GW to be developed by 2030

KB Renewables, a new company focused on the development and operation of wind turbines, was recently formed on April 16, 2025. Potential future plans include the possibility of adding solar power and battery energy storage projects to the mix. Koehler Renewable Energy owns 80% of the shares in the new joint venture, while CMB Energy owns the remaining 20%.

The goal behind KB Renewables is an ambitious one: Building up a wind power portfolio with an installed capacity of 1 gigawatt by 2030. To achieve this, the joint venture plans to build its own projects and buy existing and/or planned wind farms.

“Koehler Renewable Energy is a financially solid partner that’s a perfect fit for us – in no small part due to the fact that it’s a family business with a penchant for strategic planning,” explains Dr. Claus M. Brodersen, the Managing Director in charge of the new company and the founder of several successful energy companies, including CMB Energy, iTerra Energy, Nordgröön, and Naxxar Renewables Srl (Romania).

Nicolas Christoph, the Corporate Director of Wind Power, Solar, Hydro & Business Development at Koehler Renewable Energy, has also been appointed as a Managing Director at KB Renewables.

The new company is betting on time-tested partnerships in the wind power industry and will be pursuing a sustainable project development strategy with a focus on quality and long-term value creation by taking over operation duties after the corresponding wind power projects are completed. In addition to contributing to the ongoing energy transition, KB Renewables will also be assuming a central role in the Koehler Group’s energy delivery operations. Current plans include power purchase agreements (PPAs) and direct delivery models.

“Our goal is to implement solid and sustainable wind power projects together, and for these projects to be compelling not only in terms of profitability, but also in terms of their contribution to the energy security and decarbonization of our own sites within the Koehler Group,” Nicolas Christoph points out.
