Major DEM 6 million order already placed for new company
EASY SOFTWARE AG, listed in the Neuer Markt segment of the Frankfurt stock exchange, and KÖNEMANN VERLAGSGESELLSCHAFT mbH have launched WordFactory AG, a mutual subsidiary of which EASY holds a majority share of 51% while KÖNEMANN VERLAGSGESELLSCHAFT mbH and the linguist Prof. Dr. Paprotte hold 45% and 4%, respectively.
The new company will focus on the joint production and world-wide sales of multilingual and multimedia products. These will be distributed as high-quality print media, on CD, and via the Internet.
WordFactory AG, in possession of all rights to the contents, will build up the largest electronic linguistic archive world-wide and market it internationally as a language database in conjunction with the contents from all publications of KÖNEMANN VERLAGSGESELLSCHAFT mbH that are available for this purpose. One of many possible applications is a multilingual Internet search with semantic support. This provides the option to enter, for example, a Spanish search term and, at the same time, automatically run a multilingual query for synonyms, generic and related terms in French, German, English and Italian (multilingual thesaurus). This basic technology is applicable to all Internet search engines.
KÖNEMANN VERLAGSGESELLSCHAFT mbH, the most successful and fastest- growing German publishing house with a projected annual sales revenue of about DEM 300 million, has placed a major order with WordFactory AG to create (for now) 4 dictionaries (German/English, German/French, German/Spanish, English/Spanish) with a total value of more than DEM 6 million. Other follow-up orders are to be placed at a later time.
The technological basis for these productions is formed by the existing lexical databases and the software technology of linguist Professor Dr. Paprotte's ZERES GmbH in which EASY holds an 83% majority share as of January of this year.
With this new subsidiary, the EASY SOFTWARE AG technology group has obtained an additional pillar in a fast-growing market sector as a service provider for all linguistic users, and now also plays the additional role of an Internet "content publisher".
The new company, with a registered capital of DEM 1 million, is intended to be listed in the Neuer Markt section of the stock exchange market at a later point in time.
