Revenues up roughly 130% - earnings slightly below forecasts
Spending on new Internet security technology to safeguard market lead
Munich, January 18, 2001 --- NorCom Information Technology AG continued on its dynamic growth course over the year as a whole. Up roughly 130% on 1999, revenues in fiscal 2000 met expectations. According to its preliminary unaudited figures, the e-security and e- business solutions specialist generated revenues of more than EUR 33 mn in 2000. Additional spending on developing revolutionary new security technology for the Internet and longer sales cycles kept net loss for the year slightly above expectations. A small profit had been expected. Loss before interest and tax (LBIT) came to roughly EUR 2 mn. Net loss for the year stands at nearly EUR 0.9 mn.

With the success of the upcoming J2EE industry standard (Java 2 Enterprise Edition) and web application servers, a marked turnaround is emerging which will have a sustained impact on companies' entire IT architecture. After recognizing the importance of this trend last year, NorCom will be launching J2EE-based security technology as early as this spring, ushering in a revolutionary new development in web security which will form the core of next-generation e-business applications.
