Haldex, the brake system specialist of the SAF-HOLLAND Group, continues to expand its role from a component manufacturer to a provider of integrated brake solutions for trucks, buses and trailers. Building on decades of expertise in brake technologies, the company combines proven mechanical systems with electronic control and software functionalities to address increasing requirements in safety, efficiency and connectivity.
“We position ourselves not only as a manufacturer of individual brake components, but as a provider of comprehensive brake systems with digital connectivity for trucks, buses and trailers,” stresses Alexander Kraus, Senior Commercial Product Manager at SAF-HOLLAND. “This allows us to support vehicle manufacturers and fleet operators in managing system complexity while improving performance and service efficiency.”
Core competency with global relevance
In the field of brake adjusters, Haldex has been a leading supplier since the 1960s and has continued developing its products based on this longstanding experience. With the Haldex AA1, the company offers an automatic adjuster that ensures consistent break clearance under varying operating conditions, supporting reliable brake performance over time.
The Haldex S-ABA (self-setting automatic brake adjuster) underlines the company’s pioneering role in this segment. Equipped with an electronic brake pad wear sensor, it contributes to improved maintenance planning, while its self-adjusting control arm simplifies installation and greatly reduces the risk of incorrect settings.
Efficiency, lightweight design and ease of service in a single system
With the ModulT compressed-air disc brake, Haldex addresses the growing need for efficiency and optimisation in transport operations. The single-tappet design reduces system weight and minimises the number of wear parts, supporting lower maintenance complexity and helping to reduce operating costs over the vehicle lifecycle. An integrated adjuster unit automatically compensates brake pad wear, contributing to consistent braking performance and reduced service interventions.
Digital solutions for the trailers of the future
As part of the digital transformation, Haldex is continuously expanding its portfolio with intelligent software solutions for modern trailers. With its modular structure, the EB+ 4.0 electronic brake system enables integration of additional brake, safety and comfort functions, enabling manufacturers to adapt systems to different vehicle requirements.
Additionally, a software update management system (SUMS) ensures reliable and compliant management of the increasingly software-controlled vehicle systems. For fleet operators, this means more transparency and more efficient service processes. Haldex is therefore laying the foundation for future-proof connected trailer solutions.
