In the first three months of the current fiscal year (April 1 - June 30) PC-Ware Information Technologies AG, Leipzig, boosted its sales by an impressive 38% from EUR 19.9 million in the first quarter of the previous year to EUR 27.5 million. The technology-driven business segments - Integrated Systems solutions and New Technology Developments - were the clear growth leaders.
The Software Services and New Technology Developments were expanded aggressively and accounted for 23 of the 42 new employees hired in the first quarter. PC-Ware has consistently implemented its strategy announced at the May IPO, which focuses on the development and market launch of innovative software. The company has passed technological milestones primarily with regard to e- business platforms, electronic licensing and electronic software management. The software solutions already launched in the market such as PC-WARE in4meta, an innovative site management system, and PC-WARE in4community, a software solution for communication on Internet platforms, will gradually be expanded by additional modular components of a comprehensive, user- friendly high-performance Internet suite.
Increased investments in the expansion of strategic business units influenced the result in line with management's projections. The DVFA/SG-adjusted net income amounted to EUR 0.27 million (Q1 1999/00: EUR 0.45 Mio million). Earnings per share stood at EUR 0.05 (Q1 1999/00: EUR 0.09). The IPO resulted in one-time extraordinary expenses of EUR 3.1 million.
In view of the dynamic sales growth in the first quarter, management continues to expect full-year sales and DVFA/SG earnings of EUR 149 million and EUR 3.0 million, respectively. These figures do not include the recently announced takeover of the European subsidiaries of Programmer's Paradise Inc. This strategic move will give PC-Ware an immediate presence in France, the UK, Italy, Austria and the Netherlands, where the individual subsidiaries are excellently positioned. This will open up comprehensive marketing possibilities for PC-Ware's software support and software development services as well as its e-licensing technologies. PC-Ware will adjust its targets for the current and the following quarters to reflect the successful takeover of the European subsidiaries of Programmers Paradise inc. and other imminent technology-driven acquisitions.
