BRAINPOOL TV acquires stake in Westka Kommunikation - Entry into the computer games market - As many as 100,000 advance orders for the PC game "TV total"
BRAINPOOL TV AG has acquired a 60% stake in the computer games developer Westka Kommunikation GmbH, Cologne. With this acquisition, BRAINPOOL TV commences exploitation of its numerous TV formats in the computer games area. An important aspect is that target groups for programmes such as "TV total" and "Die Wochenshow" largely match those of PC games users. Westka and BRAINPOOL TV have already worked together on the development of an initial computer game based on the cult show "TV total". The launch of "Pulleralarm" is planned for November. Currently, 100,000 games have already been ordered in advance.
Westka has numerous years of experience in the development of high-quality computer games for PCs and games consoles. With approximately 25 employees at present, a turnover of 4 million DM and a balanced result is expected to be achieved this year. The purchase price of 8.6 million DM will predominantly be added to the Westka's capital reserves, which can be invested directly into the expansion of business activities.
