United Internet AG has acquired a 35- percent interest in start-up
livingNet Medien AG, Berlin. The company's business idea is to
increase the appeal of clients' websites. To this end, livingNet
offers a range of inexpensive services in the fields of marketing,
design and content. These services are aimed especially at small to
mid-size enterprises - as well as home users - so they can present
themselves professionally on the Internet. In addition, clients can
fill their pages with interesting content and market themselves
through banner advertising. "livingNet AG is an excellent addition to
our portfolio," explains United Internet Board member Ralph
Dommermuth. The move strengthens United Internet's position in its
target market "Application Providing", in which it already holds a
dominant position with its network members 1&1 Internet AG, Schlund &
Partner and fun communications. A major motivation for the deal was
United Internet's high degree of trust in livingNet's management
team. The company's chairman. Marc A. Ullrich, had previously
established and developed the company Strato. "livingNet's management
team consists of absolute market specialists, who know exactly how to
develop a start-up company," says Dommermuth.
The demands made of Internet sites are growing constantly. "It's
no longer enough to simply have a website," stresses company founder
Marc A. Ullrich. End users and so-called SoHo businesses - Small
Office / Home Office - do not generally have the budgets to entrust
the task to staff or external agencies. "We fill this gap with our
high-quality, but low-price services," says livingNet chairman
Ullrich.
In the marketing segment, livingNet is opening a market place for
advertising on the Internet. Advertisers can choose from a range of
banners, have them designed, and let livingNet place them on selected
websites. In the field of design, companies and end users can have
their websites styled for a lump-sum payment. The integration of
shops, interactive modules or route planners is also possible.
livingNet runs its own design center, which is unique throughout
Germany. With regard to content, livingNet offers the possibility of
subscribing for and including professionally researched and prepared
content on the customer's site, such as share prices, weather reports
and news.
"Internet users are becoming more professional," says United
Internet Board member Dommermuth. And the need for professional
services is growing accordingly. "We are therefore certain that this
business model has a great future," concludes Dommermuth.
livingNet Medien AG was founded in 1999 by Marc A. Ullrich and the
other management members. Marc A. Ullrich had previously founded
Strato AG and spent 2 years establishing the company.
United Internet AG is Europe's leading network of Internet

of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange - comprises with livingNet 18
