Singulus Technologies AG, Alzenau, achieved consolidated gross revenues of 346.7 million DM in fiscal 1999 (PY 198.0 million DM), corresponding to an increase of 75.1%. The consolidated net income rose disproportionately by more than 111% to 46.5 million DM (PY: 22.0 million DM), achieving a net rate of return on sales of more than 14% after taxes.
ST 1999 fourth quarter revenues of 135.7 million DM were more than double those of the same period in the prior year.
This success is reflected in all product groups. Orders received in 1999 totalled more than 669.7 million DM. By year-end the order backlog reached 395 million DM, notably exceeding the 1999 level of revenues.
This strong growth trend will continue this year and will experience particular vitality as a result of the emerging boom in the DVD business. As the market leader in DVD lines, Singulus Technologies is well-positioned profit measurably from this development. The CD replication line business continues to climb from its current high level and will enable STI to expand its global market leadership position. The demand in 1999 for the STREAMLINE CD-R replication line, introduced to the market less than a year ago, has far exceeded expectations.
