Basler AG - the leading manufacturer in the field of vision technology - takes part in the last capital increase of Photobit Corporation (USA) before the going public and maintains its solid 16% share. Such a strategic share of this world's leading company in the field of CMOS image sensoring gives Basler assured access to the key technology of image sensoring and includes joint developments for high-resolution and rapid-processing cameras. This reinforces Basler's expertise in the artificial vision's core technologies and its outstanding position among the competition for future mass applications of such vision technology. The capital increase put some US$ 20 million into Photobit's coffers. Basler AG will assume US$ 3.2 million of this, with this action being used to expand its product portfolio and worldwide sales network. Photobit's initial offering on the Nasdaq is planned for the summer of 2001. Besides the founders, Basler AG remains the largest shareholder in Photobit and will keep a seat on its Board of Directors. This interest in Photobit has been extremely fruitful since September 1999. The first joint product developments are in the prototype stage and have been delivering excellent results.
