The first nine months of the current fiscal year at Splendid Medien AG, Cologne, were characterised by marked growth. Sales reached DM 21.2 million in the third quarter, surpassing the comparative value for the prior year by 69 percent.
Splendid's accumulated turnover for the first nine months of the current fiscal year was DM 48.2 million, which is 44.8 percent higher than the figure for the comparative period in the prior year. The main pillar of sales - contributing DM 38.6 million or 80 percent of overall revenue - was the licensing division. It increased by 68 percent. The Video/DVD division contributed 14 percent of overall sales with sales of DM 6.7 million and is thus the second-largest business division. DM 3.0 million or 6 percent were realised in the post- production division. The latter division demonstrated 83 percent growth over the prior year. Splendid generated more than 70 percent of overall revenue abroad.
EBITDA (earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation) surpassed the previous year's figure by 65.9 percent at DM 38.1 million. Splendid has tripled investments in its film library and appropriated DM 74.3 million for this purpose over the last nine months. Depreciation on film assets is DM 34.2 million, which produces an EBIT (earnings before interest and tax) of DM 3.2 million. The DFVA result was up 163.7 percent to DM 10.7 million. Based on the DFVA result, return on sales is 22.2 percent and the DVFA result per share is DM 1.20.
By the end of the year, Splendid anticipates further highly satisfactory rates of growth and plans to further push rates in the coming year.
