Palfinger extends product range in core truck loading processes area

As from the end of January, Palfinger's global dealer network will be able to offer customers a comprehensive range of truck based equipment. Apart from truck cranes and Crayler truck- mounted forklifts, hydraulic tailgates will be marketed under the "Palgate" name. This means that Palfinger will be offering one-stop shopping for truck loading systems. Already the world's leading manufacturer of hydraulic lifting, loading and handling systems, the company has now taken a further step towards becoming a single-source supplier of transport equipment.
This addition to the product range has been made possible by Palfinger's cooperation with Eurolift GmbH, Hamburg. The latter has a strong position in Germany - the world's largest market for hydraulic tailgates. The parties to the transaction have agreed not to divulge the details of the cooperation agreement.
Meanwhile, Palfinger has concluded a licensing agreement with Sweden's Fors Industries, Bispgarden, with a view to joint development of high-quality hydraulic tailgates. In combination with Palfinger's own strengths, working with two leading tailgate manufacturers should ensure that it has good market access and competitive products. The Palgate range will be produced by Palfinger TG GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary of Palfinger AG based in Köstendorf, Salzburg. "Palgate" will be a separate profit centre within the Hydraulic Systems Division.
Palfinger TG GmbH, based in Köstendorf, Upper Austria, has ambitious plans. Its goal is to gain a firm foothold for the Palgate line in Europe and North America, before setting out to establish the brand throughout the world. The global market for hydraulic tailgates is worth almost EUR 400 million, and Palfinger's medium-term target is a global market share on a par with the 25 percent held by its truck cranes and hook loaders.
