Basler AG - leading supplier of artificial vision (Vision Technology) - yesterday won a large order for new CMOS cameras. The cameras will be jointly developed by Basler and its strategic partner Photobit Corporation (USA) - leading producer of CMOS image sensors. The cooperation is supported by Basler's September 1999 stake of 16% in Photobit. Recently, Basler announced that it would maintain its 16% stake in Photobit, while they plan their capital increase.
The order placed, by a major global firm (which doesn't want to be mentioned in the context of this innovative and sensitive project), is an 18-month custom design-in camera project. Over this time period, the order volume will be approximately 3.5 Mio. DM. This order represents the biggest single award for Basler's Machine Vision Components Business Unit to date. Basler and Photobit are continuing their cooperation in CMOS camera projects which will lead the industry in innovative products.
