Einhell Germany AG, leading manufacturer of tools for the home/garden, is expanding its company premises and adding a new state-of-the-art high-bay warehouse at its headquarters in Landau/Bavaria. With a view to further growth of the company and the increasing demand for tools and gardening equipment, the new warehouse offers space for more than 41,000 pallets on 17 levels. This will not only optimize warehouse stock, but will also ensure delivery capability for the future.
Commissioning due end of 2021
Landau an der Isar, January 15, 2021 – With an impressive floor space of approx. 141 x 39 meters and a height of 43 meters, the new, fully-automated high-bay warehouse of Einhell Germany AG will be the third-highest building in the area. Intralogistics specialist SSI Schäfer from Neunkirchen/Siegerland was commissioned to handle sub-project management and implementation of the approx. 13-month building project. By building high, Einhell has been able to make best use of the available floor space. The pallets are stored two-deep with the aid of twin-mast storage and retrieval machines. For each storage and retrieval machine, this means that up to 35 transfers into or out of storage are possible per hour.
To ensure that all associated requirements are met during order processing, as well as implementing the new warehouse management software WAMAS, a new incoming goods terminal was also created for the high-bay warehouse in the autumn of 2020.
Once the new warehouse is taken into operation on the planned commissioning date in the 4th quarter of 2021, the Landau site will make it possible to increasingly bring together the goods that are currently being stored in external warehouses as far away as Regensburg. This will not only avoid unladen journeys, but it will also prevent the roughly 2,000 truck journeys per year that are currently needed to transfer goods between storage locations.

“The expansion of our logistics center at the company headquarters will enable us to efficiently ensure delivery capability in the long term. We are responding to the constant increase in our product range, which made it a logical step to increase our warehouse capacity. By pooling our logistics processes in this way we will be able to save valuable resources. The immediate closeness to the motorway and to the railway station were also factors that helped sway the decision to build the high-bay warehouse centrally in Landau. On around 5600 square meters and 17 levels it offers space for over 41,000 pallets,” explains Chief Technology Officer Dr. Markus Thannhuber.
