Softing AG, a worldwide leading manufacturer of software and hardware for control and communication technology in the areas of automotive electronics and industrial automation, is starting up a subsidiary Softing Industrial Solutions Italia S.R.L. in Verona, Italy.
The Italian market is the second-largest in Europe, behind Germany, in the area of industrial automation. By establishing a local basis in Italy, Softing underlines its claim to be a global key player in industrial automation and the product 4CONTROL. With the flotation of the subsidiary Softing Industrial Solutions Italia S.R.L., Softing AG has made the first major step after the IPO in mid May to evolve from the international technology leader in Internet-based PC controls to the market leader.
A highly qualified staff with many years of experience could be signed on for the subsidiary. Renato Uggeri, formerly with Endress + Hauser Italia, will be the Managing Director, Luca Marani and Paolo Comai, formerly with Matsushita Italia, will be responsible for marketing, sales and support. The operative commencement of business will take place on July 1, 2000. Softing AG has an 80% interest in the new subsidiary, 20% are being held by the local management.
The task is to strongly expand marketing, sales and product support in the business segments industrial communication, Internet-based automation and software tools for automation. The objective is to establish itself in the Italian market with the worldwide technologically leading product 4CONTROL by the end of 2000. Softing AG is anticipating its Italian subsidiary to yield a positive result with a sales volume of EUR 2 million already in 2002.
