Half-yearly report of Energiekontor AG Focus on core-business wind power
Energiekontor AG, Germany, a leading developer of wind farms and wind energy projects, presented its first half- yearly report after the IPO in May 2000. In the first six months of the current business year, EnergieKontor's sales revenues amounted to 38.255 million German Marks (EURO 19.559 million). The result of the ordinary business activity amounted to 11.381 million German Marks (EURO 5.819 million). A direct comparison with the period of the previous year is not possible because at that time an interim reporting system was not made.
The sales revenues include the proceeds from project developments and erection of wind farms as well as the sale of the wind farm funds shares (37.439 million German Marks). The technical and commercial management (service) contributed to this turnover result with proceeds amounting to 0.816 million German marks. In the first half-year 2000 Energiekontor AG's own sales company for funds shares, EnergieKontor-EK-GmbH, was able to acquire equity capital amounting to 6.925 million German Marks for the financing of wind farms. This corresponds to an increase of 86.4% over the same period last year. It is usual in this line of industry, however, to sell the majority of the projects in the course of the last quarter of each year.
"The positive legal environment for regenerative energies based on the German Renewable Energies Act has made investments in wind energy projects calculable again", said Dr. Bodo Wilkens, CEO of the EnergieKontor Group. Dr. Wilkens added that the German and foreign projects, the offshore activities and the development of innovative wind power technologies will be continued as planned in the second half of the year. EnergieKontor will not diversify into other regenerative energy segments but continue to focus on its core-business windpower.
