International Seminar on Echocardiography:

TEE Masterclass – live stream from the operating theatres of Leipzig Heart Center to the world

From 3rd to 5th June 2024, the Leipzig Perioperative TEE Masterclass is taking place for the third time. At this leading hybrid event, transesophageal echocardiography examinations during the course of a range of surgical procedures will be broadcast live from Leipzig Heart Center to a specialist international audience. Registration is now open, and an early bird discount is available until 17th May.

Three days, more than 30 operations, high-definition HD quality: at the TEE Masterclass, TEE* examinations will be broadcast via live stream, with experienced physicians from Leipzig Heart Center and invited medical professionals from international faculties offering detailed explanations on probe handling, the optimum equipment settings and ultrasound images. It is possible to attend the event both in person in the auditorium of Leipzig Heart Center and online worldwide. The international specialist audience will be able to view the TEE image, the probe and the echocardiographer simultaneously on a three-part screen. During the sessions, questions from the audience in the lecture theatre can be passed on directly to the operating theatre via the facilitator. Participants who follow the event digitally will have the opportunity to ask questions via a chat feature.

Prof. Dr med. habil. Jörg Ender, Chief Physician in the Department for Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine at Leipzig Heart Center:

“At most specialist conferences, video clips focussing on surgical or interventional techniques are shown, while the TEE results are only presented in brief. At the TEE Masterclass, however, we want to show how echocardiographers carry out their examinations and measurements in detail – live in the operating theatre.”

Dr med. Massimiliano Meineri, Senior Consultant in the Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine at Leipzig Heart Center :

“With the TEE Masterclass, we want to give you the unique opportunity to get up close and personal: the virtual specialist audience is able to look over the echocardiographer’s shoulder during the operation, and is guided step-by-step through the filming and analyses, while being able to interact with them in person at the same time.”

New: hands-on workshops

In addition to scientific presentations and an industry exhibition, for the first time, the programme also includes practical workshops on structural heart interventions, 3D imaging and haemodynamic monitoring which participants are free to attend between the sessions.

Exclusive access to the media library

As the event will be recorded, the participants will be able to watch the TEE Masterclass videos on demand for a year.

CME certification

The European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME) has certified the TEE Masterclass with 21 CME points, and the State Chamber of Physicians of Saxony, with 27 CME points.

The detailed programme of the TEE Masterclass and a selection of video clips from last year are available on the official website: www.tee-masterclass.de. Registration is now available here: www.helioshealth-events.de/tee-masterclass/registration.

The live seminar is primarily oriented to echocardiographers, cardio-anaesthetists, cardiac surgeons, cardiologists, anaesthetists, internists and intensive care physicians as well as medical students.

The TEE Masterclass has been organised jointly by Leipzig Heart Center and the Helios Health Institute. This year’s patrons include the German Society for Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine e. V. (the DGAI) and the German Society for Cardiology and Cardiovascular Research e. V. (the DGK)
