Germany’s leading independent LEONINE Studios to release Miramax’s THE BEEKEEPER 2 theatrically on January 14, 2027
Munich, March 24, 2026 — Following the outstanding success of THE BEEKEEPER, Germany’s leading independent LEONINE Studios has acquired distribution rights in German speaking Europe, excluding a Pay-1 window on Prime Video, to Miramax’s highly anticipated sequel THE BEEKEEPER 2, and will release the action thriller across theaters in Germany on January 14, 2027.
The first installment, distributed theatrically in Germany by LEONINE Studios in January 2024, became a chart-topping box office sensation—debuting at #1 and drawing over 800,000 admissions locally—while also generating more than one million digital transactions as the country’s most successful TVOD title of the year. Globally, THE BEEKEEPER achieved a $162.6 million box office and a “92 % Verified Hot” rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
THE BEEKEEPER 2, produced and financed by Miramax and releasing outside of German speaking Europe via Amazon MGM Studios, marks the next chapter for the action-packed franchise. Indonesian director Timo Tjahjanto (“Nobody 2,” “The Night Comes For Us”) takes the helm, working from a script by Kurt Wimmer, who penned the original. The sequel once again stars Jason Statham as Adam Clay and is produced by Statham’s Punch Palace Productions, Chris Long’s Longshot Productions, and Wimmer.
The cast brings together Oscar®-winner Jeremy Irons (“Wallace Westwyld”), Emmy Raver-Lampman (“The Umbrella Academy,” “Central Park”) as FBI Agent Verona Parker, Bobby Naderi (“The Better Sister”) as Matt Wiley, and Jemma Redgrave (“Doctor Who,” “The War Between the Land and the Sea”) as U.S. President Jessica Danforth. Franchise newcomers include Yara Shahidi (“Black-ish,” “Grown-ish,” “Sitting in Bars With Cake,” “Street Smart”), Pom Klementieff (“Guardians of the Galaxy,” “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning,” “Westworld,” “Black Mirror”), and pro wrestler and actor Adam Copeland (“Percy Jackson and the Olympians”).
