For the launch of HBO Max in Germany: Warner Bros. Discovery and LEONINE Studios sign exclusive content agreement
First on HBO Max in Germany: Premium feature film highlights from the program slate of LEONINE Studios, Germany's No. 1 independent
- Warner Bros. Discovery secures exclusive rights for HBO Max to all SVOD pay-1 premieres of international and German titles from LEONINE Studios starting January 1, 2026.
- The titles include THE HOUSEMAID, THE HUNGER GAMES – SUNRISE ON THE REAPING, the new CGI animated adventure ASTERIX: THE KINGDOM OF NUBIA as well as German feature films like CORPUS DELICTI produced by LEONINE Studios’ production banner Wiedemann & Berg Film.
- In addition, the agreement includes non-exclusive SVOD rights to other top titles from LEONINE Studios' premium library.
Munich, December 3, 2025 – Warner Bros. Discovery and LEONINE Studios have signed a multi-year licensing agreement to accompany HBO Max's launch in Germany: All SVOD – Pay 1 premieres of German and international titles from LEONINE Studios as of January 1, 2026, will be available exclusively on HBO Max (Pay 1 window).
The agreement includes among others LEONINE Studios’ upcoming theatrical highlights THE HOUSEMAID starring Sidney Sweeney (“Anyone But You”, “Euphoria”) and Amanda Seyfried (Academy Award® nominated for “Mank”, Golden Globe® winner for “The Dropout”), the new star-studded installment of the iconic franchise THE HUNGER GAMES – SUNRISE ON THE REAPING by Francis Lawrence based on the current bestseller by Suzanne Collins, the new CGI animated adventure ASTERIX: THE KINGDOM OF NUBIA written by Matthieu Delaporte and Alexandre de la Patellière (“The Count of Monte Christo”, “The Three Musketeers”) and directed by Alexandre Heboyan (“Mune: Guardian of the Moon”) as well as feature films from LEONINE Studios’ renowned production banner Wiedemann & Berg Film like the film adaptation of Juli Zeh's bestselling novel CORPUS DELICTI starring Hannah Herzsprung (“15 Years”) and Damian Hardung (“Maxton Hall”).
In addition, the agreement includes non-exclusive SVOD rights to other top titles from LEONINE Studios' high-caliber license library. These include the successful action film PLANE, the HAS FALLEN franchise starring Gerard Butler, Jonathan Glazer's Academy Award®-winning THE ZONE OF INTEREST with Sandra Hüller and Christian Friedel, and Simon Verhoeven's award-winning Milli Vanilli biopic GIRL YOU KNOW IT'S TRUE.
