LEONINE Studios and A24 close all rights-deal for Ari Aster’s BEAU IS AFRAID for Germany and Austria

The deal marks the second collaboration after the successful release of EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE

Munich/Los Angeles/New York, February 15, 2023 – Leading German independent LEONINE Studios and global entertainment studio A24 have closed an all-rights deal for Ari Aster’s upcoming feature film BEAU IS AFRAID for Germany and Austria. The deal marks the second collaboration for both companies after the hugely successful arthouse release of EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE, which recently earned 11 Academy Award® nominations and achieved more than 250,000 admissions in Germany and Austria to date.

BEAU IS AFRAID will bow in the US on April 21st and in Germany on May 11th. The film is Ari Aster’s (“Hereditary”, “Midsommar”) highly anticipated third feature for A24 and stars Academy Award® winner Joaquin Phoenix (“Joker”), Nathan Lane (“The Producers”), Amy Ryan (“Central Intelligence”), Stephen McKinley Henderson (“Causeway”), Hayley Squires (“The Essex Serpent”), Denis Ménochet (“Peter von Kant”), Kylie Rogers (“Yellowstone”), Parker Posey (“Tales of the Walking Dead”) and Pattie LuPone (“American Horror Story”).

A paranoid man embarks on an epic odyssey to get home to his mother in this bold and ingeniously depraved new film from writer/director Ari Aster. BEAU IS AFRAID was produced by A24, Ari Aster and Lars Knudsen from Square Peg, Len Blavatnik and Danny Cohen from Access Entertainment and Elisa Alvares and Timo Argillander of IPR.VC.

LEONINE Studios’ upcoming theatrical releases include JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 4, the LEONINE Studios / Wiedemann & Berg produced Milli Vanilli biopic GIRL YOU KNOW IT’S TRUE by multi award-winning filmmaker Simon Verhoeven and the upcoming prequel THE HUNGER GAMES: THE BALLAD OF SONGBIRDS AND SNAKES.
