Hamburg, 2025-06-11. The Aid by Trade Foundation is pleased to welcome Louisa Lösing from the Global Nature Fund (GNF) to the AbTF Cotton Advisory Board. Among other things, she is committed to the protection of biodiversity in agricultural supply chains and will enrich the work of the advisory board with her expertise. Biological diversity is an operational priority for the Aid by Trade Foundation. Through its cotton standards Cotton made in Africa® (CmiA), Cotton made in Africa Organic, and the Regenerative Cotton Standard® (RCS), AbTF is pursuing a transformation in cotton and textile production. In this way, nature is to be preserved and producers supported in optimising their operations and strengthening their resilience to climate change and market shifts.

The Global Nature Fund (GNF) has been active in environmental protection and nature conservation for more than 25 years. It implements international projects to promote sustainable global development in co-operation with local partner organisations, with the ultimate aim of protecting biodiversity as a basis of life for humans and in nature. Since 2005, GNF has been committed to protecting ecosystems and biodiversity in the private sector; it has also been involved in Africa for many years, where it implements water projects as well as projects for food security and for adapting agriculture to global climate change.

As the deputy head of business and biodiversity at GNF, Louisa Lösing supports companies and standard setters with biodiversity management, for example in the implementation of biodiversity-relevant due diligence and in the development of measures for protecting biodiversity.

“Standard setters play a key role in integrating biodiversity aspects into international supply chains and bringing companies together with producers. We try to actively support this through our work. As a result, we are thrilled about the invitation and the trust it demonstrates, and we look forward to putting our knowledge to work for AbTF,” says Louisa Lösing.

Tina Stridde, the managing director of the Aid by Trade Foundation, adds, “In Louisa Lösing, we have gained an expert in the fields of CSRD and CSDDD who successfully advises companies in their biodiversity activities. We look forward to working with her and the renowned Global Nature Fund.”

The advisory board of the Aid by Trade Foundation is composed of international representatives of non-governmental organisations, textile companies, cotton companies, and governmental organisations. Bringing a diversity of perspectives and experiences to the table, as well as a wealth of expertise, the board’s members are key discussion partners and advisers for the Aid by Trade Foundation

About the Aid by Trade Foundation

Founded by the entrepreneur Prof. Dr Michael Otto in 2005, the Aid by Trade Foundation (AbTF) is an internationally renowned non-profit organisation that works throughout the world to promote sustainable raw materials. Its work makes a decisive and measurable contribution to improving the living conditions of people and animals while protecting the environment. With its verified raw materials Cotton made in Africa® (CmiA), Cotton made in Africa Organic (CmiA Organic), Regenerative Cotton Standard® (RCS) and The Good Cashmere Standard® (GCS), the foundation is putting its goals into practice. In view of the increasing challenges posed to small scale-farmers and textile companies by the consequences of climate change and market shifts, the standards are of fundamental importance for their resilience and sustainability. The foundation works in close cooperation with industry experts and with specialists in animal and nature protection. More information at: www.aidbytrade.org
