Garbsen (euro adhoc) - Garbsen, 19 November 2008 - LPKF Laser & Electronics AG has been doing business in China for over 20 years, and now runs five successful offices with almost 60 employees in the country. By selling laser systems for stencil production, the company has slashed the market share of the old and complicated chemical etching method from 100% to less than 30%. And the installation of several hundred PCB prototyping systems has also made a considerable contribution to cutting environmental pollution by dispensing with the use of chemicals.

This economic and environmentally sound commitment was honoured yesterday in the Metzlersaal of the Städel Art Gallery in Frankfurt/Germany by Tony Tyler, Chief Executive of Cathay Pacific Airways. "The China Trader Award has now been awarded for the second time also in Germany, and we are very proud to have been nominated for the award by such a high ranking jury," says Chairman of the Board of Managing Directors, Bernd Hackmann, accepting the trophy in Frankfurt. "Our involvement in this expanding market not only opens up excellent opportunities for the whole LPKF Group, but also involves an important element of corporate social responsibility." In addition to dispensing with the use of chemicals by replacing the old method with laser technology, the laser specialist from Garbsen/Germany is also a player in the worldwide expansion of the solar energy sector. The development of laser systems for the production of thin-film solar panels is the company´s most recent successful venture into another growth segment.
