PC-Ware AG reports half-year sales up 37%
Leipzig-based PC-Ware Information Technologies AG reports a 37% y- o-y increase for the first six months of FY 2000/2001 (April 1 thru September 30), posting sales of EUR 61.1 million for the period.
The DVFA/SG adjusted profit for the same period grew as planned to EUR 0.57 million (previous year: 0.55). This half-year result does not yet include the August, September and October discounts from the Microsoft licensing business which are paid by Microsoft only at the end of the calendar year; in the first quarter of the reported period PC-Ware achieved the maximum discount entitlement (4% of license sales).
Clearly top level sales increases were contributed by the company's two high-tech divisions, New Technology Developments and Integrated System Solutions, meaning that PC-Ware has been able to build on its technological position despite the difficult market environment. Significantly raised staffing levels in these two divisions as well as in sales and distribution provide a sound basis for the company's development going forward.
A number of important long-term agreements with major customers were signed during the period (e.g. supply of Microsoft products worth EUR 178 million to the German public sector over the next three years; license agreement worth EUR 12.8 million (plus a substantial updating option) with the German armed forces). In addition, PC-Ware continued to expand its customer base in the financial community, the insurance sector and in general trade and industry.
A major financial services provider has chosen the company's original "PC-WARE in4meta" Internet site management system (more than 200 installations to date) to implement one of the world's largest Intranet projects. Development work on the company's e- licensing technology proceeded as budgeted and scheduled; initial pilot projects are expected to be launched before the end of the financial year. The Board is confident that PC-Ware AG will accomplish the sales and profit targets for the full financial year ending March 31, 2001.
