Joint sales company for DVDs and videos Managing Board expanded to include Marketing and Sales
Splendid Medien AG of Cologne set up Warner Vision Vertriebs GmbH of Hamburg jointly with the AOL/Time Warner subsidiary, Warner Music Germany, also of Hamburg, Splendid and Warner Music will jointly sell and distribute DVDs and videos in the German-speaking region. This co-operation with Warner will open up access to an international network for Splendid and enable it to further extend its sales activities. At the same time, Splendid Medien AG has extended its Managing Board to include responsibility for Marketing and Sales.
Splendid Medien AG will hold 49 per cent of the shares in Warner Vision Vertriebs GmbH. Warner Music will assume 51 per cent. The Managing Director of the new subsidiary will be Alexander Welzhofer who will simultaneously join the Managing Board of Splendid Medien AG with responsibility for Marketing and Sales. Welzhofer began his career in 1983 by successfully introducing direct marketing into the film and video industry, a pioneering achievement. Thereafter he was responsible for building up international corporations such as Virgin Vision and Polygram Filmed Entertainment in the German-speaking region.
Warner Vision Vertriebs GmbH will accept responsibility for sales of approx. DM 28 million in 2001 and approx. DM 40 million in 2002. Apart from DVDs and sales through videos from Splendid and Warner Music, the new company will also sale and distribute titles from the Splendid subsidiary Polyband of Munich and other labels such as Intertainment and Nuclear Blast. Before the joint subsidiary was founded, a sales co-operation agreement had already existed between Splendid and Warner.
