CeWe Color reinforces its market presence in southern Germany
The photo laboratory Ulmcolor declared itself insolvent in July,
and now a buyer has been found. CeWe Color, the largest independent
photo laboratory group, has taken over, retroactively as at 1.
October 2000, the most vital assets, the customers and the staff, but
not the liabilities remaining from the past. Hubert Rothärmel,
Chairman of the Board of Directors of the CeWe Color Group,
emphasises that all 45 employees will keep their jobs at the same
conditions as previously.
However, the employees of Ulmcolor were at no point in time
without work prior to the takeover by the laboratory group from
Oldenburg. It was possible, under the supervision of the interim
insolvency administrator, to maintain all customers. In 1999 Ulmcolor
achieved a turnover of approximately DM 10-11 million in its plant
with an area of 2,000 square metres. The takeover of the laboratory
in Neu- Ulm means that the CeWe Color Group is expanding its net of
laboratories in Germany to 12 industrial laboratories and is
consequently increasing its market share in southern Germany. The
laboratory in Neu-Ulm will continue operations with Volker Frenzel as
Managing Director.CeWe Color, through the takeover of Ulmcolor, is furthering increasing its market leadership and its leadership from a cost point of view. The Board of Management emphasises that all areas of business will be closely analysed and optimised. They are convinced that a great deal of potential cost-cutting can be realised through integration into the CeWe Color Group.
