Holtum (Niederlande), 21. Mai 2026: DHL Supply Chain, der auf Kontraktlogistik spezialisierte Unternehmensbereich der DHL Group, hat den Grundstein für einen neuen europäischen Batterielogistik-Hub im niederländischen Holtum gelegt. Damit baut das Unternehmen seine Kapazitäten für Batterie- und Energiespeicherlogistik in Europa weiter aus. Der neue Standort umfasst rund 17.000 Quadratmeter Lager- und Servicefläche für Hochvoltbatterien und ist eng mit dem unmittelbar benachbarten Automobilstandort von DHL Supply Chain in Holtum verzahnt. Gemeinsam bilden beide Standorte einen integrierten Campus, der End-to-End-Lösungen für Elektromobilität und Energiesysteme in ganz Europa bietet. Die Inbetriebnahme ist für Anfang 2027 geplant.

Die Batterien am Standort Holtum sind für den Einsatz in Elektrofahrzeugen sowie im schnell wachsenden Segment der Batterie-Energiespeichersysteme (BESS), einschließlich Heim- und Solarspeichern, vorgesehen. Mit der zunehmenden Nachfrage nach Elektromobilität und dezentralen Energielösungen wächst auch das Interesse von Kunden aus der Automobil-, Industrie- und Energiebranche an sicheren, skalierbaren und regelkonformen Logistiklösungen für Batterien und Energiespeicher. Dank seiner Lage ist die Region um Holtum hervorragend positioniert, sich zu einem zentralen europäischen Drehkreuz für die Logistik von Elektrofahrzeugen und Energiespeichern zu entwickeln – mit Kunden in den Niederlanden, Deutschland, Belgien und angrenzenden Märkten.

Der neue Standort ist auf die Anforderungen dieser komplexen und streng regulierten Lieferketten ausgelegt und bietet ein breites Spektrum an Mehrwertdienstleistungen. Dazu zählen die Lagerung von Batterieeinheiten, Diagnose- und Leistungstests, das Laden und Konditionieren, die Instandsetzung, Reverse Logistics sowie die Vorbereitung für das Recycling. Durch die Kombination logistischer und technischer Services kann am Standort Holtum der gesamte Batterielebenszyklus effizient gesteuert werden – zugleich werden zirkuläre Lieferketten sowie eine nachhaltigere Ressourcennutzung unterstützt.

Der Campus Holtum überzeugt durch seine exzellente Anbindung an das europäische Verkehrsnetz – mit direktem Anschluss an wichtige Autobahnen zwischen den Niederlanden, Belgien und Deutschland sowie der Nähe zu einem Container- und Binnenschiffterminal am Juliana-Kanal. Diese Anbindung an das Wasserstraßennetz ermöglicht es, Lieferketten noch effizienter und resilienter zu gestalten und Kunden zusätzliche Optionen für eine nachhaltige Logistik in Europa zu bieten.

Der Neubau ist Teil der Strategie 2030 der DHL Group, die darauf abzielt, Kunden gezielt in Wachstumsfeldern wie Elektromobilität, erneuerbaren Energien und zirkulären Lieferketten zu unterstützen. Holtum (Netherlands), 21. May 2026: DHL Supply Chain, DHL Group’s specialized contract logistics division, has broken ground on a new European Battery Logistics Hub in Holtum, Limburg, further expanding its European capacities for battery and energy storage logistics. The new site offers 17,000 square meters of specialized storage and service space for high voltage batteries and is closely connected to DHL Supply Chain’s existing Holtum automotive operation located next door. Together, the two facilities create an integrated campus offering end-to-end solutions for electric mobility and energy systems across Europe. The new hub is scheduled to go live in early 2027.

The batteries handled at the Holtum site are intended for use in electric vehicles as well as in the rapidly growing segment of battery energy storage systems (BESS), including home storage and solar energy applications. As demand for electric mobility and decentralized energy solutions accelerates across Europe, DHL Supply Chain is seeing strong interest from customers in the automotive, industrial and energy sectors seeking safe, scalable and compliant logistics solutions for battery supply chains. With its strategic location, Holtum is positioned to develop into a central European gateway for EV and energy storage logistics, serving customers across the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium and neighboring markets.

The new battery logistics facility is designed to support complex and highly regulated battery supply chains and enables a broad range of value added services at one location. These include compliant storage of battery units, diagnostics and testing, charging and conditioning, refurbishment, reverse logistics and preparation for recycling. By combining logistics and technical services, the Holtum campus enables customers to manage the full battery lifecycle efficiently while supporting circular supply chain models and more sustainable use of resources.

The Holtum campus benefits from excellent connectivity to European transport corridors, with direct access to major motorways linking the Benelux and Germany, as well as proximity to a nearby container and barge terminal on the Juliana Canal. This waterborne connection further enhances the site’s ability to support efficient and resilient supply chains, offering customers additional options for sustainable European distribution.

The project forms part of DHL Group Strategy 2030, which focuses on supporting customers in growth sectors such as electric mobility, renewable energy and circular supply chains.
