Changes to the dpa supervisory board: Julia Becker, Renate Dempfle and Marco Maier join the board - Dr. Laurent Fischer steps down
Hamburg (ots)
The previously co-opted members Julia Becker (FUNKE Mediengruppe), Renate Dempfle (Main-Post) and Marco Maier (Radio/Tele FFH Mediengruppe) have been elected to the supervisory board of Deutsche Presse-Agentur GmbH. The long-standing deputy chairman of the supervisory board, Dr. Laurent Fischer (Nordbayerischer Kurier Zeitungsverlag) has stepped down from the board at his own request. Germany's largest news agency dpa announced this today following its 76th shareholders' meeting in Hamburg.
"I am very much looking forward to continuing to work with Julia Becker, Renate Dempfle and Marco Maier on the board. At the same time, I would like to thank Dr. Laurent Fischer for his services to dpa and wish him all the best for the future," said Daniel Schöningh, chairman of the dpa supervisory board. "Dr. Laurent Fischer was a member of the dpa supervisory board for more than three decades, including many years as chairman of the Product and Marketing Committee. We will greatly miss his publishing expertise and his in-depth knowledge of the German media industry in our committee work," Schöningh continued.
In addition, Deputy Chairman Valdo Lehari jr. (Reutlinger General-Anzeiger) as well as Herbert Dachs (Medienholding Süd), Joachim Knuth (NDR), Frank Mahlberg (Axel Springer) and Holger Martens (RHEINPFALZ) were re-elected to the supervisory board to serve another three-year term.
Following the 76th shareholders' meeting, the executive board of the supervisory board consists of Daniel Schöningh (chairman, Ippen-Mediengruppe), Valdo Lehari jr. (deputy chairman, Reutlinger General-Anzeiger) and Dr. Stephan Kolschen (secretary, Ernst Brune).
Berliner Verlag has joined the circle of dpa shareholders. The company, which publishes the Berliner Zeitung newspaper, among other titles, is acquiring some of the shares returned to dpa by departing shareholders. Deutsche Presse-Agentur GmbH has around 170 shareholders. Each shareholder may acquire up to 1.5% of the share capital. This restriction guarantees dpa's independence from any individual interests.
