Summit meeting for the European insurance industry
Forthcoming Handelsblatt event: European Insurance Summit 2003, 29th and 30th October, Brussels

Chief Executive Officers from the
European insurance industry will be meeting at the
Handelsblatt-organized "European Insurance Summit 2003", which is to
be held in Brussels on 29th and 30th October. Under the slogan "Back
to basics - concentration on core insurance business" key
representatives from business and science will be discussing how the
insurance industry can solve its current problems. The key themes
will be: return to profitability, the impact of the international
consolidation surge, concentration on core skills and management of
the technical insurance business.
The following speakers have already agreed to take part in the
European Insurance Summit 2003: Sergio Balbinot (Generali Group);
Henri de Castries (AXA Group); Leonhard Fischer (Winterthur Group);
Francois Henrot (Rothschild & Cie. Banque); Rudolf Kellenberger
(Swiss Re Group); Ewald Kist (ING Group); Gérard de La Martinière
(Fédération Française des Sociétés d'Assurances, Comité Européen des
Assurances) and Lord Levene of Portsoken (Lloyd's); Bronek Masojada
(Hiscox plc); James J. Schiro (Zurich Financial Services); Gary
Schmalzriedt (ACE European Group), Wilhelm Zeller (Hannover Re) and
Anton von Rossum (Fortis). 
The meeting will be chaired by Prof. Dr. Walter Ackermann (University
of St. Gallen) and Prof. Dr. Lutgart Van Den Berghe (Vlerick Leuven
Gent Management School).
The event is being organized in conjunction with the Wall Street
Journal Europe.
