Bonn, 3. März 2026: DHL Supply Chain, der auf Kontraktlogistik spezialisierte Bereich der DHL Group, erweitert seine Kapazitäten in der Wirtschaftsregion Rheinland und errichtet im Industriegebiet Wolbersacker in Rheinbach ein neues, CO₂‑neutral betriebenes Logistikzentrum. Auf insgesamt 26.600 Quadratmetern entstehen moderne Lager- und Umschlagsflächen, die den steigenden Bedarf an leistungsfähigen Logistiklösungen in der Region abdecken sollen. Der Standort soll im August 2026 den Betrieb aufnehmen.
„Mit dem Neubau am Standort Rheinbach reagieren wir auf die wachsende Nachfrage nach flexiblen und effizienten Logistikflächen und investieren gezielt in die Leistungsfähigkeit der Wirtschaftsregion Rheinland“, sagt Katrin Hölter, Chief Executive Officer DHL Supply Chain Germany & Alps. „Unternehmen benötigen heute flexible, skalierbare Logistikflächen, die Wachstum ermöglichen und gleichzeitig kurze Wege zu den wichtigsten nationalen und europäischen Märkten bieten. Genau darauf ist unser Standort in Rheinbach ausgelegt. Der Standort macht die Lieferketten unserer Kunden weniger störanfällig und schafft gleichzeitig die Voraussetzungen für effiziente und klimafreundliche Logistik, die zunehmend zu einem Wettbewerbsfaktor werden.“
Der DHL-Neubau wird nach höchsten baulichen Standards, dem DGNB‑Gold‑Standard, errichtet und ist mit moderner Energie- und Gebäudetechnik ausgestattet, darunter eine 1,0‑MWp‑Photovoltaikanlage, ein 229‑kW‑Batteriespeicher, effiziente Wärmepumpen und energieoptimierte LED‑Beleuchtung. Die Flächen sind zudem modular geplant und können je nach Kundenbedarf für klassische Lagerprozesse, E‑Commerce‑Fulfillment oder automatisierte Lösungen genutzt werden. So schafft DHL zusätzliche Kapazitäten für Unternehmen unterschiedlichster Branchen und unterstützt sie dabei, ihre Logistik emissionsärmer, flexibler und besser skalierbar zu gestalten – wichtige Voraussetzungen für moderne, zukunftssichere Lieferketten.

Die direkte Anbindung an die A61 sowie die Nähe zu den Flughäfen Köln/Bonn und Düsseldorf verkürzen Transportzeiten für unsere Kunden deutlich und rücken die Warenbestände damit näher an wichtige europäische Absatzmärkte. Über die Nähe zu den DHL‑Netzwerken und dem Duisburger Hafen ist der Standort zudem in zentrale Transportkorridore eingebunden – ein Vorteil für Unternehmen, die auf kurze Lieferzeiten und schnelle, flexible Auftragsabwicklung setzen.“
Auch die Stadt Rheinbach rechnet mit deutlichen Impulsen für den regionalen Wirtschaftsstandort. „Die Ansiedlung von DHL Supply Chain ist ein weiterer bedeutender Meilenstein für die Weiterentwicklung des Gewerbegebiets Wolbersacker und zeigt, dass Rheinbach aufgrund seiner hervorragenden Standortqualität attraktiv für Unternehmen verschiedenster Branchen ist. DHL Supply Chain hat für den Neubau bereits Richtfest gefeiert. Vertreterinnen und Vertreter der Stadt Rheinbach sowie der regionalen Wirtschaft betonten dabei die Bedeutung des Projekts für die Entwicklung des Standorts und die Stärkung der regionalen Logistikinfrastruktur. Bonn, March 3, 2026: DHL Supply Chain, DHL Group’s specialized contract logistics division, is expanding its capacities in the Rhineland economic region by building a new, carbon‑neutral logistics center at the Wolbersacker industrial park in Rheinbach. On an area totaling 26,600 square meters, modern warehousing and transshipment space is being created to meet rising demand in the region for high-performance logistics solutions. The site is scheduled to go on stream in August 2026.
“With the new facility at the Rheinbach site, we are reacting to the growing demand for flexible and efficient logistics space and making a targeted investment in the performance capability of the Rhineland economic region,” says Katrin Hoelter, Chief Executive Officer DHL Supply Chain Germany & Alps. “Today, companies need flexible, scalable logistics space that enables growth while at the same time offering short routes to the most important domestic and European markets. That is exactly what our Rheinbach site is designed for. The site makes our customers’ supply chains less susceptible to disruptions while creating the conditions for efficient and climate-friendly logistics that are increasingly becoming a competitive factor.”
The new DHL facility is being built according to the “Gold Standard” of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) and is equipped with state-of-the-art energy and building technology, including a 1.0 MWp photovoltaic system, a 229 kW battery storage system, efficient heat pumps and energy-optimized LED lighting. Furthermore, the facility space has been designed using a modular approach, and can be used for conventional warehouse processes, e‑commerce fulfillment or automated solutions depending on customer needs. DHL is thus creating additional capacities for companies from a wide variety of industries and helping to make their logistics more flexible and scalable while reducing emissions – key considerations for modern, future-oriented supply chains.
“For years, we have seen high demand in the region for modern logistics space,” says Marie Schaefer, Business Unit Director West DHL Supply Chain Germany & Alps. “Rheinbach closes an important gap in the market. The direct connection to the A61 motorway and close proximity to Cologne/Bonn and Dusseldorf airports considerably reduce transport times for our customers and thus bring their product inventories closer to key European sales markets. Due to its proximity to DHL’s networks and Duisburg harbor, furthermore, the site is integrated into key transport corridors – an advantage for companies focusing on short delivery times and rapid, flexible order processing.”
The town of Rheinbach also anticipates considerable stimulus for the regional economy. “DHL Supply Chain’s decision to locate here is another significant milestone in the ongoing development of the Wolbersacker business park and underscores Rheinbach’s appeal to companies from a wide range of industries, thanks to its outstanding location profile. DHL Supply Chain is not only setting new benchmarks in modern, sustainable construction; it is also creating additional jobs and strengthening the regional economy,” says Rheinbach’s mayor Dr. Daniel Phiesel.
DHL Supply Chain has already held the topping out ceremony for the new facility. Representatives from the town of Rheinbach and the regional business community emphasized the importance of the project for the town’s development and for strengthening the region’s logistics infrastructure.
