QCHEFS, known for its innovative dental care products for dogs, cats, and horses, has switched over all its packaging to paper made by Koehler Paper. Koehler NexPlus® packaging paper products are heat-sealable and reliably protect the products inside them with a variety of barrier properties. In addition, the recyclability of these products has been verified in conformity with the Cepi standard, confirming their value as an environmentally friendly alternative to conventional plastic packaging. QCHEFS products are available throughout all of Europe at pet stores, feed and supply stores, pharmacies, and veterinary clinics, as well as online at qchefsdental.de and through international partners in over 30 countries.
Holistic sustainability: from the product’s concept to its packaging
Sustainability is part of QCHEFS’ DNA: That goes from research based on the use of natural products and their effect on the body’s natural healing all the way to resource-efficient production operations in Bavaria, Germany. The family business procures raw materials from local sources to the greatest extent possible and uses energy-efficient production processes – all with the goal of reducing its environmental footprint to an absolute minimum. “We don’t believe in making compromises between quality and protecting our environment, and that’s why we’re using Koehler Paper – they make both possible,” explains QCHEFS founder and microbiologist Anke Nagler. “Many retailers are letting us know that the paper packaging makes our products come across as a truly honest, sustainable, and modern solution, leaving a much stronger impression as a result.” “The fact that QCHEFS is using our flexible packaging paper underscores how sustainable packaging materials meet industrial requirements while improving brand perception on the market at the same time,” points out Christoph Wachter, Director of the Flexible Packaging Paper division at Koehler Paper.
Sustainable packaging: Innovative paper solutions with ‘NexFlex®’ from Koehler Paper
The research and development team from Koehler Innovation & Technology worked with the experts from Koehler Paper to develop the NexFlex® product range, a unique and recyclable generation of flexible packaging paper products. The aim here is to replace plastic in packaging by using so-called barrier paper wherever possible. The range covers a broad spectrum: It includes standard coated and uncoated paper used in laminates for pouches, sachets, and other applications, making them suitable for a wide range of packaging for food and non-food products. The next generation of paper for flexible packaging are sustainable barrier paper with functional surfaces for product-specific protection (Koehler NexPlus®). The NexFlex® product family also includes paper coated on one side with good dimensional stability and high smoothness (Koehler NexCoat®), as well as uncoated paper with a natural appearance (Koehler NexPure®). Its recyclability has also been verified by the Papiertechnische Stiftung (PTS) institute with Cepi testing.
