Koehler Paper, a Koehler Group company, recently presented its Koehler Paper Award to outstanding graduates from the HM Hochschule München University of Applied Sciences for the fourth time in the history of the prize. A “Paper Technology” master’s graduate and a “Paper and Biofiber Process Engineering” bachelor’s graduate were the recipients of this year’s awards. Both received 1,000 euros and a certificate on handmade paper produced by Koehler.
Award for highest-performing graduates
With this award, the company honors extraordinary academic performance in areas of key importance for the paper processing industry. Its goal is to cultivate dedicated young talent early on and bolster productive exchanges between the field of science and stakeholders that focus on real-life applications.
The master’s program prize went to Fabian Noss as a result of his extraordinary achievements in the areas of chemical technology, coating, and specialty paper and the fact that he finished top of his class in the subjects of minerals, coating, and specialty paper. Meanwhile, the bachelor’s program prize was won by Manuel Ebmeyer, who got the best grades of his class in the subjects of biopolymer chemistry, biogenic fibers, and surface finishing.
Young talent as the key to success
The awards were presented at the official HM Hochschule München University of Applied Sciences graduation ceremony. They were handed out by Simon Ketterer, Head of Personnel Consulting and Support, and Thomas Peter, General Production Manager at the Koehler Paper mill in Kehl, Germany. “The Koehler Paper Award is a concrete expression of our conviction that young talent in scientific fields is a crucial success factor when it comes to the future of the paper industry,” Thomas Peter said. “We’re always delighted to support young talent as they make their way into the industry and are happy to help shape knowledge transfers between universities and the industrial sector,” Simon Ketterer adds.
