After its superb start into the year, DataDesign AG has again exceeded expectations in the second quarter: the Munich-based specialist for secure Internet transaction software solutions saw its revenues grow by more than 100% from DM 3.8 million in Q1/2000 to DM 7.8 million in the second quarter. Incoming orders for the first six months of the year amounted to some DM 21 million, which is equivalent to an increase of roughly 370% over the figure for the same period of the previous year. With an order backlog amounting to DM 11.3 million, performance nearly quadrupled in comparison to the figure of DM 3.1 million reported in the same period of the past year. Compared to Q1/2000, gross profit increased tenfold to 4.1 million. Gross margin increased from some 11% in Q1/2000 to 50% in the second quarter. DataDesign AG reached the break-even point back in May. Sooner than expected, the enterprise can report an operating profit-specifically, DM 0.9 million for June. For the third and fourth quarters, the company's management is convinced that its operative business will see positive cash flow.
