Shabtai Gold, 35, will be relocating to the Washington bureau in April to take on the newly created post of Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent for the dpa's English-language newswire, dpa international.

Gold, who has been working as dpa international's Istanbul correspondent since 2014, will be reporting on United States foreign policy and US-based international organizations for all dpa channels. His comprehensive coverage will extend well beyond the borders of the country.

"The world is becoming increasingly interconnected - and dpa is as well. Our appointment of Shabtai Gold as Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent for dpa international underlines our commitment to this. Gold is an experienced reporter with vast knowledge of the world's crisis regions, in many of which the US plays an important political and military role. With Gold we will be able to better explain US foreign policy to our customers around the globe," says Sven Gösmann, dpa's Editor-in-Chief.

"The US continues to be a key player in a wide range of political hotspots across the world that are often of immediate relevance to our clients. Thanks to his extensive international experience, Gold will tailor our US coverage to our global audience," says Marco Mierke, Managing Editor of dpa's English-language services.

The focus of Gold's reporting will be government agencies, Congress and organizations involved with US foreign policy from dpa's North America head office in Washington.

A New Yorker by birth, Gold has been writing for dpa since 2006. His work with the agency has taken him across the world, reporting from locations including Jerusalem, Geneva, Cairo, Johannesburg and most recently Istanbul. Previously he worked for the then-UN news agency, IRIN.

Anindita Ramaswamy, 44, will be taking over as the dpa international Istanbul correspondent. She will be leaving her current position of Senior Editor at the dpa international desk in the Berlin newsroom. Born in India, the journalist has been working for dpa since beginning in New Delhi in 2003. Before moving to Berlin, she reported for dpa from 2008 to 2011 in Washington.
