Cuxhaven (euro adhoc) - 7. July 2010 - The wind farm developer PNE WIND AG (ISIN: DE000A0JBPG2) has completed the Schulenburg wind farm in the municipality of Pattensen (Lower Saxony), put it into operation and handed it over to the EnBW Erneuerbare Energien GmbH as the purchaser. In this modern wind farm, three Vestas V 90 wind turbines, 105 metres hub height with a total effective output of 6 MW, have been erected.

The construction of this wind farm posed several challenges to the project managers of PNE WIND AG. "Due to the soil conditions, pile foundations had to be driven in for each of the three wind turbines in order to ensure the required structural stability for the 150 metre high wind turbines," explains project manager Jens Peters about one of the particularly important measures. Despite a persistent winter period, the wind farm could be completed in a construction period of four months. The cooperation with the land owners, the Verkopplungsinteressenschaft Schulenburg, the Realverbände of Adensen and Gestorf and the Realgemeinde was pleasingly positive.

The three wind turbines constructed in the Schulenburg wind farm produce sufficient environmentally-friendly wind energy to cover the annual electricity demand of about 4,500 private households. As a result, the wind farm is providing a significant contribution to the protection of the environment, as the environmentally-friendly electricity production by the wind avoids more than 8,600 tonnes of carbon dioxide and other pollutants are each year and makes the mining of about 16,800 tonnes of lignite redundant.

Martin Billhardt, chairman of PNE WIND AG, says: "We are continually implementing additional wind farm projects, thus benefiting from our extensive project pipeline. The many years of experience of our employees in project development and implementation have also paid off in this project."

Company profile

PNE WIND AG with its headquarters in Cuxhaven develops and implements wind farm projects on land (onshore) and at high sea (offshore). Its core competence is the development, planning, implementation and financing of wind farms and their operation or sale including subsequent service. So far, the company has set up 95 wind farms with 544 wind energy systems and a total nominal output of 788 MW.

Alongside its business activities in the established German home market, PNE WIND AG is also increasingly investing in dynamic growth markets and has subsidiaries and representations via joint ventures in Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania, Turkey, the UK, USA and Canada. Wind farm projects with a nominal output of about 1,700 MW are currently being processed in these countries and are to be implemented in the medium term. In Germany (onshore) currently wind farm projects with a nominal output of more than 800 MW are being processed.

Furthermore, PNE WIND AG develops offshore wind farm projects, three of which have already been approved in German waters. Entering promising foreign markets is also being examined for the offshore area.
