init innovation in traffic systems AG has won its first contract in
Denmark. Accordingly, the Karlsruhe-based specialist in telematics
and electronic fare management systems will provide DSB S-tog A/S
with an integrated on-board information system and other hardware and
software components by mid-2007. DSB S-tog is part of the DSB Group
(Danish national railway), the biggest transportation company in
Denmark, and operates the S-train network which forms the core of the
public transport system in the Greater Copenhagen Area with its
population of around 1.3 million. Initially, around 135 track
vehicles used for local public transportation in the Greater
Copenhagen Area will be equipped with this technology, which will
provide passengers with a greater level of service, while also
improving the control of the traffic flow. After Stockholm and Oslo,
Copenhagen is already the third Scandinavian city using init
telematics systems. init hopes this will have an important signal
effect on other Scandinavian transportation companies.
