"In the 2004/2005 business year, sales totaled EUR 15.4 million
(after EUR 15.7 million in the previous year). Operating revenues in
the year under report increased from EUR 16.5 million to EUR 16,9
million", says Markus Schröcksnadel, CEO at feratel media
technologies AG.
"At the same time we have again achieved a significant improvement in
the result as planned. Consolidated net income increased
significantly from TEUR 387.2 in the previous year to TEUR 510.6.
EBITDA came to EUR 2,7 million after EUR 1.8 million in the previous
year. Earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) improved from TEUR
2.6 to TEUR 373.5. Earnings before taxes (EBT) came to TEUR 539,8
compared with TEUR 653.9 in financial 2003/2004. This is due to
third-party shares in the sale of Orbicom AG that were included in
EBT in the previous business year", Schröcksnadel continues.
The individual financial statements for feratel media technologies
AG, which form the basis for payment of a dividend pursuant to the
Austrian Stock Corporation Law, show a balance sheet profit of EUR
1.2 million. The feratel group has an equity quota of 66 %. At the
Annual General Meeting the Executive Board will accordingly be
proposing payment of a dividend of 7 eurocents, one eurocent more
than in the previous year.
Market entry in Benelux Following the move onto the Hungarian market
in the previous year, feratel was able to enter the Benelux market on
a sustainable basis, and feratel now has eight camera locations in
the Netherlands and three in Belgium. In the period under report, the
300th feratel weather camera was installed in The Hague.
In December 2004 the first feratel weather cam project was completed
in the French Alps with the installation of a camera in Alpe d’Huez.
That was followed by a further camera in Sainte Foy Tarentaise.
8 of the Top 10 In Austria especially, sales of feratel’s Deskline®
information and reservation system were extremely buoyant. Eight of
the country’s ten biggest holiday regions in terms of bednights
(Sölden, Saalbach-Hinterglemm, Salzburg, Mittelberg, Zell am See,
Ischgl, Mayrhofen, Bad Gastein) now employ feratel technology. On the
highly competitive Tyrolean market, 7 of the Top 10 destinations in
terms of bednights (Sölden, Mayrhofen, Ischgl, Innsbruck, Seefeld,
St. Anton and Serfaus) are now working with Deskline®. The new
additions to feratel’s Deskline® customer base in Austria in the
period under report include the combined region of Steirisches
Thermenland and Oststeiermark, Olympiaregion Seefeld, Ferienland
Kufstein, Zell am See and Ferienregion St. Johann.
New Developments Significant resources were once again invested in
technological solutions and the development of new products in
financial 2004/2005. The Deskline® enquiry management system, for
example, now features a further innovative module in the form of the
Deskline® enquiry pool. In collaboration with the Gstaad Saanenland
Tourist Office, feratel developed a destination-based Hotel Yield
Management System as a new add-on module for Deskline® in the period
under report.
Within the feratel Panorama offering, a platform was developed that
permits broadcasting companies to download the latest feratel weather
cams and incorporate them in their programs. This facility for
producing individual weather cam combinations is currently being
employed by the Spanish weather channel Canal Méteo and is used for
transmissions from feratel’s French camera locations to La Châine
Météo.
Outlook In the current financial year, feratel can expect a
continuation of the positive mood on its core markets in Austria,
Germany and Switzerland. The projects recently completed with very
good results on various new markets will provide a positive stimulus
for continued market penetration in those countries. Following the
successful positioning of feratel products in Hungary and the Benelux
countries, the focus of the company’s international expansion policy
is now France and Spain. In the new EU member countries, too, feratel
media technologies AG will continue to pursue a policy of expansion.
"In the present situation, business developments in the course of the
year can be expected to be determined by positive factors, and key
re-organizational measures have already been completed. To that
extent feratel’s goal for the current financial year is a further
improvement in results", says Schröcksnadel in conclusion.
