Karlsruhe, San Francisco (euro adhoc) - May 19, 2011 - asknet AG, a leading supplier of global eCommerce solutions for software and digital media companies, has announced its business figures for the first quarter of 2011. In the first three months of 2011, the Group generated sales of 18.0 million euros, around 11 percent up on the previous year´s figure. Gross profits, which represent the growth of the Group, also went up by 11 percent to 2.8 million euros compared to the first quarter of 2010, of which 2.0 million euros came from the eDistribution segment and 0.8 million euros from ePortals. asknet Group´s operating result (EBIT) was -0.26 million, a slight improvement on the previous year´s quarter despite one-off fees for strategic consultancy services of 75 thousand euros. Both company segments developed positively in the first three months. The ePortals segment managed to gain the hospital of the University of Munich, Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences and the student services organization Studentenwerk Karlsruhe as new customers of its academic software portals. In the eDistribution segment, Congree Language Technologies GmbH, Karlsbad, a specialist for authoring assistance software, was a new addition to asknet´s customer base, and Boleto Bancário, another payment option for Brazil, was added to the global eCommerce portfolio. Apart from China, India and Russia, Brazil is one of the strongest growing and most promising markets, and asknet is keeping a keen eye on it.

"Our company is well on the way to growth," explained Michael Scheib, CEO of asknet AG. "We are driving the expansion of our product portfolio and customer base so that we will be able to maintain this position in the future." asknet´s intelligent solutions such as the integration of resellers in software publishers´ eCommerce channels or the marketing and billing of new business models like Cloud Services and subscriptions enable customers to react quickly to new market trends and increase sales in the long run.
