About THE SEED

A missing young man, Victor (Jonathan Berlin), an environmental activist and journalist, vanished somewhere in the vast wilderness of northern Norway, triggers a police hunt that threatens to overthrow global systems of power. German detective Max Grosz (Heino Ferch), Victor’s uncle, and his Norwegian colleague Thea Koren’s (Ingrid Bolsø Berdal) search leads them into a tangled web of international business schemes and highest-level political intrigue. From the desolate Arctic wastes of Spitsbergen, home to the Svalbard Global Seed Vault, to Europe’s gleaming cities, the secrets they expose one after the other bring them up against ruthless multinational agro-chemical corporations, transnational political bodies and those shadowy masters of brinksmanship pulling the strings in the background, all of whom will stop at nothing to gain the ultimate control over humanity — the very food that we eat.

THE SEED is a co-production of Odeon Fiction, ARD Degeto, NRK and Rein Film. Service producer on Spitsbergen is PolarX AS, service sroducer in the Czech Republic is MIA Film.
