Brenntag publishes new sustainability report with focus on circular economy - multiple and resource-friendly use of chemicals

Brenntag (ISIN DE000A1DAHH0), the global market leader in the distribution of chemicals and ingredients, has published its sustainability report for fiscal year 2019. Here, the company documents its global activities, targets and performance in the field of sustainability. Among other things, the latest report gives insight into the areas of occupational health and safety, compliance and data protection, personnel retention and development, process safety and environmental protection.

Christian Kohlpaintner, who took over as CEO of Brenntag Group in January 2020, explains: "Sustainability is of central importance when it comes to a company's long-term license to operate. We need to - and want to - develop together with our society and be at one with its values. This is why sustainability is a fundamental part of our corporate strategy here at Brenntag, a permanent part of our corporate culture and an ongoing element driving our business. Particularly now, given the enormous challenges posed by the coronavirus outbreak, our Safety First principle is valid more than ever before with regard to occupational and process safety and we want to live up to our responsibility towards employees, business partners and society in general."

As a company that is active all over the world, Brenntag has a global sustainability strategy that is geared, among other things, towards the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) guidelines. One focus of the latest report is on the circular economy. Group Sustainability Manager Dr. Dirk Eckert explains: "As the link between chemical manufacturers and industrial users, Brenntag can actively contribute its expertise towards protecting resources and avoiding waste. This means that, by working closely together with our customers, we can ensure multiple usage of chemicals in various areas. In doing so, we add value for our customers while boosting our own efficiency at the same time."

The clearly defined implementation of Brenntag's sustainability strategy and its impact is documented by the latest report based on numerous projects, initiatives and cooperations from all regions of the world.

The sustainability report is available on the Brenntag website.
